Precision Plus began in northern New Jersey as a small one-man machine shop, performing job-shop work for local companies including several independent vacuum pump repair companies in the area. The opportunity to specialize in replacement parts and repair kits for vacuum pumps was obvious and as a result, in 1984, Precision Plus Vacuum Parts, Inc. was founded in Parsippany, NJ by Bill Miller.
Over the years the company continued to grow and expand its product line to include spares and kits for most major vacuum pump brands including Edwards, Leybold, Alcatel, Stokes and Welch. By 1996 the company employed more than 50 people at their facility in Troy, NJ with operations including complex machining, filter assembly, gasket manufacturing and component remanufacturing.
Precision Plus continued to grow and in 1996 Edwards High Vacuum International agreed to purchase Precision Plus. The company continued
to operate out of their New Jersey facility for the next two years when the decision was made by Edwards to consolidate the Precision Plus operations into the Edwards Niagara Falls, NY distribution center where a new team of customer care, sales, engineering and materials folks took over in 1998.
By 2006 Precision Plus expanded product line included selling spares and repair kits for dry pumps and in 2007, Precision Plus opened its first international sales and distribution center in Munich, Germany. Since then, the Munich team has grown sales in Europe by more than five-fold.
In 2010 Precision Plus added staff in the Edwards Singapore sales office and began to lay the groundwork for future expansion of the Precision Plus brand in the region, leading to opening our newest sales and distribution centers in Shanghai, China and Singapore in 2014.
Precision Plus now employs more than 30 people worldwide in sales, marketing, customer care, new product development, engineering, technical support, purchasing, quality control, and warehousing and distribution. More than 6,000 SKU’s are kept in stock for same day shipping. These parts cover more than 600 different pump models from all of the major pump manufactures including: Edwards, Oerlikon/Leybold, Pfeiffer, Adixen-Alcatel, Gardner Denver – Welch & Reitschle, Becker, Busch, Varian-Agilent, Ulvac, Ebara, Kinney-Tuthill, and Vacuubrand.
